Portable TimeSync Description
Made as the portable counterpart of TimeSync, Portable TimeSync is a software tool that can automatically synchronize the system time to various SNTP time servers. This app is designed for the Windows clock only, so it doesn't affect the timestamps of your files and folders.
Portable utility with a simple UI
Since there is no installation involved, you can save the files in a custom location on the disk or on a USB flash drive and double-click the executable to launch Portable TimeSync.
As far as the interface is concerned, the program adopts a small window with a plain look, where you can select a timezone from a drop-down list, enable or disable summer and winter time automatic adjustment, pick a SNTP server, check the box to set the time, as well as click a button to save settings.
View various time statistics
You can get time statistics when it comes to the local time, time format, client destination and server transmission date, round trip delay, local clock offset, and an estimation of new client time.
The application can be set to automatically run at every system startup until further notice. In addition, command lines are supported for setting the clock, as well as for installing and uninstalling the program.
Evaluation and conclusion
No error dialogs popped up in our tests and the software utility didn't hang or crash. As we expected, it left a small footprint on system resources, running on a low amount of CPU and RAM.
To sum it up, Portable TimeSync facilitates an effective and approachable method for synchronizing the local system clock to a well-known time server, and it can be quickly configured by all types of users. Although it hasn't been updated for a very long time, it works on newer Windows editions.
