Portable Universal Extractor Description
This is the portable version of Universal Extractor - the software that can retrieve content from compressed files with the most popular formats.
Thanks to its portability, your Windows Registry entries will remain intact. Also, you can place Universal Extractor on an external device and run the executable file on any computer.
The user interface of the application is minimalistic. All you have to do is select an archive to extract information from (the "drag and drop" method is supported), set its output destination and name, and hit the "OK" button.
You can view details about the task in a Command Prompt window. If the file already exists, Universal Extractor will ask you for an overwrite command ("Yes", "No", "Never", "Rename", "Quit").
In the "Preferences" menu you can enable the Universal Extractor to keep track of the archive history (in a preferred language), set the debug file directory and configure format-specific options (e.g. append missing file extensions, remove duplicate or temporary files).
The program manages to extract data from files in a reasonable amount of time and didn't freeze or crash during our tests. Furthermore, you can view logs in a file placed in the root, as well as open the online help file to find out what formats are recognized by the Universal Extractor (including 7Z, ACE, EXE, BIN, CUE, RAR, IMG, ISO, NRG and ZIP).
All in all, Universal Extractor is an excellent tool for decompressing archives and the fact that it comes in a portable version is a welcomed bonus. We strongly recommend this application to all users.
