Portable Zoomer Description
Portable Zoomer is a feather-light and easy-to-use software program that allows you to zoom into any part of the screen. It follows the mouse cursor and magnifies the area that surrounds it.
It doesn't contain any configuration settings, so it can be handled by any user looking for a magnification tool without having to worry about complex options.
Portability benefits
Since there is no installation involved, you can drop the program files in any part of the disk and simply click the executable to launch Portable Zoomer. Another aspect worth noting is that, unlike most installers, it doesn't add new entries to the Windows registry or Start menu, leaving no traces behind after its removal.
Simple-to-use magnification utility
Once launched, the application reveals a small window in the bottom right corner of the screen, right above the system tray. As previously mentioned, Portable Zoomer follows your mouse cursor and zooms into the area that surrounds it.
View the cursor's position and color code
The mouse cursor is represented by a simple black cross hair. Apart from the fact that the title bar shows the current cursor's coordinates and color ASCII code, there are no other notable options available.
Unfortunately, this window cannot be resized, and there's no option implemented that permits you to trigger a hotkey for quickly enabling and disabling Portable Zoomer. It gets minimized to the taskbar, not the system tray.
Evaluation and conclusion
No error dialogs popped up in our tests, and the software utility didn't hang or crash. Unsurprisingly, its impact on the overall performance of the machine was minimal, as it required low CPU and RAM to work properly.
Too bad that it doesn't integrate richer features. Nevertheless, Portable Zoomer delivers an effective solution to using a magnification tool on any area of the screen.
