Prism

Prism is a portable application that gives you the possibility of running web pages and applications directly from your desktop. It targets power Internet users who want full control over their systems.
Since installation is not a prerequisite, you can simply drop the program files anywhere on the hard disk and click the executable to run.
Otherwise, you can move Prism to a USB flash disk or similar storage unit, in order to run it on any computer with minimum effort.
An important aspect to take into consideration is that the registry section does not get new entries, and leftovers are not kept on the hard disk after removing the tool.
The UI is made from a standard window with all the available options neatly displayed in the primary panel. In order to create a shortcut (on the desktop, Start menu, and/or in the quick launch bar), all you have to do is write the URL and assign it with a name.
In addition, you can change the icon by using an image from the web or computer, as well as include a navigation bar and keys, status messages and progress into the desktop app, aside from displaying it in the notification area. Unfortunately, you cannot edit the properties for an existing app, but it is possible to remove it by simply deleting the shortcut.
Prism is pretty light on the system resources, using a low-to-moderate quantity of CPU and RAM. It has a good response time and works well, without causing Windows to hang, crash or pop up error dialogs. Unfortunately, Prism has not been updated for a pretty long time, and it is not supported by newer OS platforms.
