ProBook Description
Books are a source of enjoyment and entertainment for many people, and many people have considered writing a book or would like to. ProBook is an application that is designed to help users write their own stories or books, with special areas to help organize the various aspects of book writing.
A very basic interface that is only marginally specialized towards book writing
The main features of ProBook is its ability to create different profiles for various book or story projects, and different areas to store character information. Aside from that, ProBook is just a limited document creation tool with a basic text editor.
While it can be useful to be able to access the different information in one window, that is a thin justification for the claim of a specialist book creation tool. The character information area is useful, but the chapter area could just as easily be managed by a folder and several files, if that.
A lack of features and tools, making the design of ProBook extremely basic
Aside from the already mentioned features, ProBook offers no other real features or tools to aid users in their story writing ventures. Along with the character area, a specific area for the plot or synopsis would be useful, links to various writing resources such as a thesaurus could be added. An area to write the burb could also easily be included, or even a cover art area.
The lack of story based features really undermines the value of ProBook and it is hard to justify its use over conventional text documents. While the program is free, that is not a sufficient excuse for such a minimalistic design that might impede users more than it helps, especially given how basic the text editor is and how many features it is lacking.
An interesting idea undermined by poor execution and lazy design, offering little help
A specialized program designed to help users write a book or improve their creative story writing is a useful application, sadly, ProBook is not that program. It is basic and rudimentary at best, there are several aspects of creative writing that are not supported in any way by the application. ProBook might be able to help some users, but there are other ways to organize and plan stories that are far more comprehensive.
