Projector

Projector is a very simple media player that gives you the possibility to view .avi videos, listen to .mp3 music and load .dat video CDs. It should be mentioned that it hasn't been updated for a long time, so it's not fully compatible with later Windows editions.

Outdated application

The setup procedure is classical and shouldn't take a long time. Once done, you can launch Projector and get welcomed by an outdated interface represented by a small window with a red, yellow and orange-themed appearance that shows basic media player controls.

Basic media player controls

It is possible to open media from files or entire directories in playlists, save the playlist to .lst format and import it later or on another PC running Projector, pause and resume the track, seek a particular position in the stream by moving a slider, enable repeat or shuffle mode, as well as adjust the volume level or mute it with one click.

Inconsistent performance results

The tool managed to play some video files during our tests. However, it prompted some error dialogs afterward that immediately caused it to crash. As previously mentioned, Projector hasn't been updated for a very long time, and these events are to be expected on modern OSes.
However, you could still run it on older Windows versions, like XP. CPU and RAM consumption was low in our tests. Too bad that Projector doesn't offer support for a wider range of audio tracks and video clips.
