PumpKIN Description
PumpKIN is a server-client application that can facilitate data transfer through the TFTP protocol. Due to its faulty security, the Trivial File Transfer Protocol is mostly used to transmit boot or configuration files across hosts in a local network.
Useful for hardware maintenance tasks
An application such as PumpKIN can be used to send data from and to different hardware components in a private network, such as a router, switches or hubs. It can help administrators make sure that the device firmware is updated to the latest version, as well as create firmware or configuration backups.
Featuring a simple interface, PumpKIN should pose no problem to its users. The main window displays the server status and shows you a list of all the pending requests. Before using it to transfer files, you must go through a brief configuration process in the 'Options' window.
Quick configuration and request filtering capabilities
You can set the download path, adjust the confirmation timeout and configure the application to prompt you before saving a file, accept or deny all requests. Furthermore, you can choose the port to listen to and modify the default block size.
Transfer requests can be filtered using custom rules. As such, the application can automatically block or accept requests that come from an IP address in a specific range or just prompt you for confirmation.
You can easily send a file to a peer by specifying the remote host and the file location. Fetching a file is just as easy, as you just have to specify its name and the target remote host. The application features customizable sound notifications for incoming requests, completed or aborted tasks.
A TFTP-compliant file transferring application
PumpKIN acts as a client-server system for the TFTP protocol, allowing quick file transfers between network devices. It can be used in network maintenance, but please note that it is not safe for sending sensitive data.
