Purge

Purge is a lightweight command-line application specifically designed to force Windows to empty the system cache.
This is useful for deleting files to remove clutter and make room for new data.

Empty system cache fast and easy

The tool caters to users who don't know their way through the operating system to manually clear the cache without resorting to third parties.
Although console-based applications are typically oriented toward experienced PC users, this app doesn't support arguments, so it can be easily used by anyone.

Run the app as administrator from the console

To fire it up, it's necessary to launch Command Prompt or another command-line environment you prefer. Make sure to apply administrator privileges in order to avoid errors.
Next, you can navigate to the program's location on the disk and call it process by writing down the file name and extension. The system cache should be immediately cleared afterwards and you should get a confirmation message.
No other actions can be performed by this program. It would've been useful if Purge showed the exact amount of space it freed up by clearing the system cache.

Doesn't need setup

It's not necessary to go through an installation procedure, thanks to the fact that Purge is portable.
It's wrapped in just one .exe file that can be saved anywhere on the disk as well as copied to a thumb drive if you're interested in clearing the system cache of other computers without having to set up anything.
Just keep in mind that this cannot work without administrator privileges.

Compatibility issues with Windows 10

Unfortunately, Purge hasn't been updated for a while and this is probably why it failed in its attempts to empty system cache on Windows 10 in our tests, returning an error in the console interface instead.
Nevertheless, it worked smoothly on older Windows editions, so you can test it for yourself. It used a minimal amount of system resources and carried out the cleanup procedure fast.
