PyEyeCrypt Description
Regardless of whether you are discussing sensitive financial details with your team via a IM chat service or you just want to keep a sibling or roommate out of your private life, encrypting your message seems to become a necessity.
PyEyeCrypt is a Python-based text encryption tool that enables you to secure your messages and hence, you can make sure that nosy friend or family member are not snooping through your messages or chat history while you are away.
Comes with an intuitive and clean interface
Before you can use the app, first you are asked to type in randomly and at different intervals, so that the app identifies the OS you are using. You should know that the application also includes an on-screen keyboard that you are enforced to use for typing if it detects an operating system that is known to snoop on its users, such as Windows 10, for instance.
The program comes with a simple and user-friendly interface that is split into three main sections. While in the upper region you can type the text message you want to send and preview its encrypted form, in the lower section you can enable and use various passwords and keys for your content.
Straightforward encryption and decryption
Functionality-wise, the application is as simple as it gets. You can encrypt a message by typing it, entering the desired password and then hitting the encrypt button. On a side note, the tool provides you with two encoding methods, namely AES 128 ECB and CBC, both of which are known to be strong encryption algorithms.
Whenever you encrypt a message, the app generates the password salt, which is also the part that is transmitted in the first block of encoded text. The salt is also necessary to transform the password into a key that enables the recipient to decipher your message. This is why, it should never be re-used for a message that you want to keep secret.
A tool for deterring curious people from your private messages
In the eventuality that you value your privacy and want to prevent your messages, history and chats from being read by anyone, then perhaps PyEyeCrypt might lend you a hand.
