Rapid Screenshot Description
Rapid Screenshot is a small Windows application whose purpose is to help you take screenshots of the entire desktop, active window, or custom region of the screen.
Portable running mode
You can take advantage of the tool’s portability status and run it on the target system without administrative privileges. In addition, you may store it on pen drives to keep it with you all the time.
The utility does not store entries in your Windows registry and leave other configuration settings in your system. It actually saves them on the storage device.
Easy-to-decode GUI
Rapid Screenshot reveals a clean feature skeleton which leaves no room for ambiguities. All configuration settings are placed in a single panel so they are easy to reach. You cannot appeal to a help manual but you can set up the dedicated parameters on your own because they are highly intuitive.
Take screenshots using different modes
The application gives you the possibility to capture the entire desktop, active window, or only a user-defined region of the desktop by inputting the exact coordinates.
What’s more, you are allowed to enable an automatic saving mode and make the program store the captured images in a user-defined folder. If you do not want to save the snapshots automatically, you can export the current image to BMP file format to a custom location and with a user-defined name.
In addition, you can automatically hide Rapid Screenshot’s configuration panel while taking screenshots. Tests have shown that the utility takes photos quickly and provides good output results. However, it has not been updated for a while so you may bump into compatibility issues on newer operating systems. We have tested it on Windows 8.1 Pro and noticed that it is not able to hide the configuration window while taking screenshots.
Final remarks
All in all, Rapid Screenshot comes packed with a basic suite of features for helping you take screenshots, and is suitable especially for less experienced users. There’s no support for advanced functions so you cannot make use of hotkeys for capturing images, embed text/image watermarks, apply shadow effects, and insert free-hand designs and text annotations, just to name a few options.
