Regular Expression Tester is a lightweight piece of software that facilitates a user-friendly interface for helping you check regular expressions. They are used for searching and identifying specific patterns of strings of characters, in order to replace them with different words or phrases, for example.

Needs Java to work properly

It's developed with the Java programming language, which means that you must have Java Runtime Environment installed to successfully launch the downloaded .jnlp files. There is no other installation involved, but the program creates a desktop shortcut. Other than that, it doesn't insert any entries into the system registry or generate files on the disk without letting you know about it.

Clear-cut interface for evaluating regex

As far as the interface is concerned, Regular Expression Tester opts for a standard window with a clean layout, where you can enter text, specify the regular expression, and click a button to perform an evaluation.
This task is carried out swiftly and the result is displayed in the same window for easy analysis. Although there are no buttons implemented for printing information or exporting it to file, it's possible to select and copy data to the Clipboard by triggering the Ctrl+C key combination or by opening the context menu. There are no other options worth mentioning about this program.

Straightforward regular expression evaluator

Regular expressions were verified very fast in our tests, during which the software application remained light on system resources consumption, thanks to the fact that it needed a low amount of CPU and RAM to work properly. It was stable throughout its runtime, without causing the operating system to hang, crash or prompt errors.
Although it doesn't feature a comprehensive set of options and customization properties, Regular Expression Tester delivers a simple and clear-cut solution for testing regular expression. It can be handled even by users less experienced with this type of software.
