Render Description

Dedicated to 3D modelers, Render is a free and simple application developed in Java, which gives you the possibility to open 3D models and texture, preview your own designs and test your animations. It uses the Java3D API to make this happen.

Preview 3D models and test animations

Before proceeding any further, you should know that this tool can be used for viewing purposes only, since it doesn't contain any editing features. If you wish to manipulate 3D models, you have to look for another program.

Outdated, yet still operational

Also, Render hasn't received updates for a pretty long time. According to our tests, it still works smoothly on the newest Windows versions. However, you may have to configure Java settings to add the developer's website to the exception list in order to deploy the app.

Open OBJ models and GIF or JPG textures

The Java 3D model viewer has a clean interface with a simple layout, showing two buttons for opening models and textures using the classical file browser. It offers support for Wavefront (.obj) models as well as texture files with the .gif and .jpg format.

Single and multiple mode

Two more buttons are displayed for toggling single and multiple mode. While observing the model, you can use your mouse to rotate the object and view it from every angle. Furthermore, clicking the buttons triggers some audio effects. There are no other notable options implemented by the developer.

Simple Java app for previewing 3D models

The utility was light on resources consumption in our tests, so it didn't burden the computer's performance. As previously mentioned, we didn't have any trouble running it on the latest Windows version.

Although Render doesn't come packed with richer options and configuration settings, it offers a straightforward solution for previewing 3D models to test animations without resorting to a complex and resource-demanding application.
