However, specialized applications like Research Notes can help keep a better organized structure for optimal performance in your work.

Before rushing to check out the application’s set of features, you might want to make sure that .NET Framework is a part of your computer, although modern Windows iterations come with it as a default feature.
Running the application brings up a plain, empty canvas, which is the space all research topics are held. As such, you need to add a topic to get started, and this only requires you to write down a name. Once this is done, you can move on to add different references of interest.
A horizontal scroll bar is used to navigate through content of each topic, including the index, which is the first item. This can become a little frustrating, especially if there are an abundance of notes, and you have to scroll all the way to the end to be able to add a new one.

Little to no customization options

References only consist of a title and body. Unfortunately, you need to manually write down info or paste it from the clipboard, because the application doesn’t support import, or export of any kind of file. This means you need to rely on the application to review or extract text, having an impact on overall practicality.
Every topic you add is kept in a new tab, making it easy to work with more at a time. Every topic has an index page which enlists the name and date of creation of each note. Sadly, customization isn’t among the features, and all text you work with is unformatted.

Bottom line is that text is process on every computer on a daily basis. You don’t need to use complicated tools for simple tasks, and Research Notes wants to prove this. It comes with good intentions, letting you manage multiple notes with ease, but the way it does so leaves more to be desired, especially because of the lack of export options.
