River Past 3GP Converter

River Past 3GP Converter is an application designed to help you turn video files (e.g. AVI, ASF, FLV, MOV, MP4, MPG) into 3GP and 3G2.
The tool is packed in a plain and simple-to-use interface. Adding items to the list can be done via the file browser, folder view or "drag and drop" function. It is possible to process multiple entries in batch mode.
The file queue lets you view the original and target name and format, duration, size, frame rate, sample rate and status of each item. By using the default settings, you can proceed with the encoding procedure after specifying the output profile and destination.
Advanced users are free to tinker with the audio and video properties in regard to the compressor, resolution, frame rate, timecode, quality, bit rate, frequency, channel mode and bits per sample. You cannot restore settings to default or create new output profiles.
Moreover, you can preview clips in an external media player, remove an item from the list or clear the whole file queue, save the conversion list, make file associations, as well as add or remove audio and video decoders.
The video conversion program requires a low-to-moderate amount of CPU and system memory, in order to finish a task in reasonable time. It is very responsive and includes a help file. We haven't come across any error dialogs during our testing and River Past 3GP Converter did not freeze or crash. The output videos have a fair image and sound quality.
On the other hand, you cannot set River Past 3GP Converter to automatically turn off the computer or to open the output directory after encoding. Furthermore, you cannot trim videos or specify the thread priority. The interface needs some improvements but we must take into account the fact that River Past 3GP Converter has not received any recent updates.
