Run Description
There are multiple methods to launch specific programs and services on a computer, with the most common one being through desktop shortcuts. Windows also comes with a dedicated Run tool, which can also launch special commands. In case your work revolves around this tool, then applications like Run let you access it faster.
Can be used on the go
First of all, the application can be launched from the moment download is done, because it doesn’t take you through a setup process to work, giving you the liberty to take it around on a thumb drive to use on both your home, and work computers. An advantage of portability is that system registries remain intact, and so PC stability is not affected.
The application leaves mixed feelings when launched, both because it doesn’t bring anything new, and that it sticks to the original Run tool. In other words, the utility is merely a shortcut to the Run utility provided by Windows, and doesn’t bring any new features of its own, other than a really fast way of launching this tool.
Alternative way of launching the Run utility
On the other hand, this enables you to simply pin it to the taskbar, or Start Menu even though it’s already there, to launch Run at the press of a button. Unfortunately, already provides an effortless method of launching Run, through the default Win + R hotkey command, while it can also be accessed from the Task Manager file menu.
Furthermore, every access brings up the UAC prompt, since the shortcut is seen as a third-party component not natively found in Windows, although it leads to a built-in function. In case the default Run hotkey is broken, a good thing is you can set a custom one to this program, or more precisely to its shortcut from the properties panel.
To end with
On an ending note, Run is nothing more than a shortcut to the Windows feature with the same name. There are no extra options, or possibility to save special places, although history is kept track of. As such, it’s only an extension to the already abundance of ways you can launch the Run tool.
