RunningTime Description

RunningTime is a little program that is meant to tell you for how long your PC is running. It counts computer shutdowns and sleep modes as well, and you can add days to the counter.

Straightforward design

Built with the utmost simplicity in mind, RunningTime is basically a time counter. You can make it stay on top of other windows, change font colors, and visually customize it the way you like it.

Lots of basic features

RunningTime's job is to record for how much time your computer has been turned on since you shut it down or put it into sleep mode. The default counter measures hours, minutes, and seconds, but you can also insert a fourth counter: days. This is especially useful if you have the habit of leaving your computer on for days and need to seed a lot for torrent uploads.
Customization options are few but are more than welcome. Since the counter itself runs in a small window, users can change the font color and default background color. However, if you try to get rid of the tiny panel, the program inevitable crashes with an 'object required' error. Clearly, the developer introduced a feature that shouldn't really be there yet.
However, features like activation at system startup or different skins for the counter aren't available for RunningTime. To start measuring time, the app must be manually opened via its executable file. However, the tool manages to get its information from Windows registries and start counting automatically in the background, even when the visual counter is activated. This way, you shouldn't be surprised if it already knows for how much time your computer is working when you boot it for the first time.

Conclusion

RunningTime keeps count of your system uptime even when you quit the application, and it monitors data for days on end. Since it does it by accessing your system registries it might pose a security issue for your system files. Nevertheless, its intentions are good. It may help you save some money on the long run while it's prompting you to turn off your computer from time to time.
