SafeCleaner is an easy-to-use application that can wipe free space on the disk, in order to prevent unauthorized users from recovering important files with specialized tools.
It automatically detects files previously deleted by sending them to the Recycle Bin and emptying it, or by triggering the Shift+Delete key combination, as well as analyzes and secures the space that was occupied by them.

Installing this tool takes minimal time and effort, thanks to the fact that there are no unfamiliar options, mandatory software products, or third-party components bundled with the setup kit.
When it comes to the interface, SafeCleaner has a single window with a plain-looking design and neatly structured layout, showing all options put at your disposal. This way, you don't have to depend on multiple windows to perform tasks.

How it secures free space

Your disk drives are automatically identified and listed at startup, so all you have to do is select one or more partitions, as well as click a button to start the cleaning operation immediately.
This job may take a very long time, depending on the size of the selected drive or drives. However, it can be canceled if it takes too long or if you change your mind. Log details can be examined in the bottom part of the window.
Only a progress bar is shown during the wiping procedure, without additional details. A message dialog pops up at the end of the job to let you know it's over. There are no other notable settings provided by this utility.

Evaluation and conclusion

Unfortunately, the software application is not explicit concerning the security algorithm used for wiping free space, which makes it difficult to test its efficiency. On top of that, it features just a couple of basic options, without making room for customization for more experienced users.
CPU and RAM usage was minimal in our tests, so it didn't hamper the computer's performance during tasks. Thanks to its straightforward interface and options, SafeCleaner can be easily used.
