Screenshot Backdrop is a lightweight, portable and straightforward piece of software that allows you to change the background of pictures when viewing them, in order to provide color contrast and better observe image details.
As there is no setup pack involved, you can drop the executable file to any location on the hard drive and just click it to run.
It is also possible to save Screenshot Backdrop to a pen drive or similar external storage unit, so you can run it on any workstation seamlessly, without previous installers.
What's important to take into consideration is that the Windows registry does not get updated with new entries, and leftovers do not remain on the HDD after removing the app.
The interface is represented by a simple window with a plain layout, where all options are accessible through the context menu. You can use the file browser to open a picture (drag-and-drop is not supported), as long as it has the JPG, JPEG, PNG or BMP format.
In addition, you can pick a preferred display type (stretch, tile, zoom, center, or none) or clear it. There are no other options provided by this software utility. For example, you cannot save the picture with the new settings to file.
Screenshot Backdrop has minimal impact on computer performance, since it runs on a very low quantity of CPU and RAM. It is very responsive to commands and works well, without triggering the operating system to hang, crash or pop up error notifications. We have not come across any issues in our testing.
Although it does not have rich features, Screenshot Backdrop provides a simple solution for all users who want to change the background of their images while viewing them. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, it can be handled even by people with no experience in computer software.
