Screenshot is a feather-light application that enables you to take fullscreen snapshots of your desktop and save images in JPEG format. It especially comes in handy when you have trouble using the PrintScreen key due to various reasons.
The app doesn't include complicated options or customization properties, making it accessible to all types of users, even the ones less experienced with screenshot tools.

No setup required, besides .NET Framework

The entire program's packed in a single .exe file that can be saved to a custom directory on the disk or copied to a removable storage unit, in order to directly run it on any computer to take snapshots.
It doesn't change the system registry configuration or create new files on the disk without letting you know about it. However, you must have .NET Framework installed, since it was developed with the aid of this platform.

Capture the full screen and save JPEG images

As far as the interface is concerned, Screenshot opts for a standard .NET Framework form and doesn't add any special graphical elements, preferring to focus on functionality instead. Only two buttons are available, for capturing the screen and for saving the image, respectively.
Once you click the "Capture" button, the application gets temporarily minimized to the taskbar to grab the entire visible area on the screen, whether it's the desktop, the maximized window of a running application, or multiple windows arranged in any order on the desktop.
The image can be previewed in the main panel to decide whether or not you want to keep it. Afterward, it can be either discarded or saved to JPEG format by just specifying the output directory and file name. In the following step, you can open the graphic file with an external image viewer to inspect results.

Evaluation and conclusion

Unfortunately, Screenshot doesn't contain additional options or configuration settings. For example, it doesn't give you the possibility to tweak the output JPEG quality, trigger a specific key combination to capture the screen, take snapshots in various methods (e.g. active window, custom region), let alone schedule automatic tasks.
On the other hand, it serves its purpose quite well, providing all types of users with an effective solution for capturing the full screen to save it as a JPEG graphic file. CPU and RAM usage was minimal in our tests.
