SDS Description
Time is not always by your side and there is not much to be done in this regard. When it comes to computer applications or even its power options the situation changes. With the help of utilities like SDS you are able to schedule automatic shutdowns or specific actions at a user-defined time or interval.
Can be triggered when the system is idle
Although we've seen a lot of similar applications, SDS sets itself apart thanks to the simplicity and the wise selection of features gathered in a minimal interface.
It shuts down the computer when the specified period elapses, when the computer is idle for a specific period, at a user-defined time or when a given application closes.
Handling a large variety of tasks
Stepping into the so-called “Advanced†side of the application brings a bunch of new options, which means SDS is also able to hibernate the computer, close a selected application or perform another task, such as breaking the modem connection, shutting off the monitor, rebooting or locking the system.
Stays hidden in your system tray
In addition, this particular menu also offers some other settings, including a dedicated feature to take a desktop screenshot before system shutdown or release short warning sounds a few seconds before performing the action.
A good addition would have been a “Minimize to Tray†tool that would allow the app sit in System Tray while waiting to perform a scheduled task.
The amount of resources it needs is very low and that's not at all surprising since it's such a small app, so you should be able to run it on both older and newer systems.
To end with
The conclusion is fairly simple: SDS is one of the tools to try, especially when looking for an easy to use application that needs just a couple of clicks to schedule a task. It can be used both at home and in the office thanks to the support for the amount of tasks it can perform.
