Furthermore, the only way to make sure your skills really are developing is to get frequently assessed and receive constant feedback. However, when it comes to ear training, you can leave the assessments to a specialized application called Sebastian.

Create a new account for each music student

The installation process goes smoothly, and due to the intuitive GUI you can make the most of the utility even if you are not an expert PC user.
You can start by entering your name and specifying your current level, be it novice or intermediate - if you misspell your name, you can easily alter it at a later time, via the Options window. If more users want to enjoy the benefits of Sebastian within the same session, multiple accounts can be created, then you can switch between them with ease.

Practice ear training with increased difficulty as you advance

Due to Sebastian, you get complete control over your type of exercises - in other words, you can choose between interval direction, simple melodic intervals and advanced melodic intervals.
This way, you can start by identifying simple sounds, then progress to more complex arrangements when your skills improve. You can use either a MIDI keyboard or the on-screen keyboard, without losing any of the app’s functionality.

Gradually improve your music skills

All in all, Sebastian can take over some of the teacher’s duties and provide students with specialized exercises for ear training. They need to listen to a sound, then play it back using the keyboard, while the difficulty of the exercises increases as they improve.
The evolution of each student is displayed in a neat manner, making it easy for them to view the areas where they need to invest more work, such as melodic chords, scales, harmonic chords, simple melodic intervals, two voices, melodic fragments or harmonic intervals.
