SGSoft WordPad

SGSoft WordPad is a small utility that can create or edit text and RTF files, with a set of keyboard shortcuts that can increase the workflow.
On an introductory note, SGSoft WordPad has been on the market for quite a while now, but unfortunately, it is no longer being updated on a regular basis. As such, its compatibility with the latest OS releases, as well as its collection of features no longer represent a wow factor on today’s market.
Comparing its set of offerings to, for instance, to the built-in WordPad utility of Windows 7 and 8 is almost unnecessary, taking into consideration that the latter are clearly more feature rich, not because of their brand, but because of the fact that they receive updates more often.
Given the richness of today’s software market in what word processors are concerned, choosing SGSoft WordPad over more advanced and complex software would not be a productive and realistic decision.
However, during its time of glory, SGSoft WordPad gathered quite the crowd of fans. This was because the features it includes were rare then, unlike present times.
SGSoft WordPad relies on a simple, yet user-friendly interface that allows you to create a new document or open an existing one (in TXT or RTF format). Formatting options include the possibility to customize letter color and size, a selection of three fonts, two styles (bold and strikethrough), alignment preferences and bullets.
In addition, you can also insert a date or predefined text fragments (such as Hello, Welcome, etc), as well as to access a calendar (doesn’t work on Windows 7, though).
The workflow can be improved by working with a set of shortcuts; using the keyboard, you can rapidly copy, cut or paste a string and open or save a document in RTF or text format.
Although most of the functions worked just fine on both Windows 7 and 8 during our tests, we dare say SGSoft WordPad would not be one of the first choices we’d go for. However, the software still stands a chance at being redesigned, so hopes are not down to zero for it yet.
