Signal Netstat Description

Signal Netstat is a feather-light and portable app that's capable of identifying local network connections and displaying protocol statistics. It can be used to block connections, find out which ports are being listened, as well as to get DNS configuration details and IP addresses.
Before proceeding any further, you should know that the app hasn't been updated for a very long time, and it has compatibility issues with later Windows editions.

No installation required

You can drop the program files anywhere on the disk and just click the executable to launch Signal Netstat. Otherwise, you can keep it stored on a USB flash drive to directly run it on any PC with minimum effort. It shouldn't modify any registry settings.

Simple GUI for viewing network connections

The tool adopts a user-friendly interface based on a standard window with a black background and green text, where the remote connections are immediately detected at startup.
It's possible to view remote IP addresses, remote and local ports, status (e.g. established, wait), as well as to discover your own local IP address, host name, subnet mask, default gateway, DHCP server, and DNS suffix.

Easily block remote connections

Signal Netstat can also be asked to block any remote connections, refresh information every five seconds, show listened ports, and display host names. Unfortunately, it doesn't implement options for copying information to the Clipboard, exporting it to file, or printing it.

Evaluation and conclusion

The app didn't put a strain on the computer's performance in our tests, using low CPU and RAM. However, it took a long time to execute any kind of command we gave it, and some of its options didn't work in our case.
As previously mentioned, Signal Netstat has been outdated for a really long while, so compatibility problems with newer Windows are to be expected. You should resort to more reliable and equally simple-to-use networking utilities, such as Wireless Network Watcher, TCPView or Netstat Viewer.
