SimplePDF

SimplePDF is yet another PDF viewer that aims to provide users with a comfortable environment for visualizing PDF documents with various controls for zoom and navigation.
Despite what its name may imply, SimplePDF wasn’t designed solely for PDF documents, being compatible with several other formats including ePub, Mobi, CHM, XPS, DjVu, CBZ and CBR.
Therefore, you can also open e-books and comic books with the aid of SimplePDF, which is more than most PDF viewers have to offer.
In order to assess its value we thought to compare it to Adobe Reader, although the latter’s support is restricted to PDF files alone. It didn’t take us long to figure out that SimplePDF has a long way to come until it reaches the capabilities of the Adobe product.
First and foremost, they both sport an impressive array of navigation and zoom functions, as well as various viewing modes and search functions.
What SimplePDF lacks is Adobe Reader’s richness in what export and document signing is concerned, lacking both of these unfortunately. Moreover, it doesn’t sport options to create a PDF file, to add comments and markups to a document or to highlight content like Adobe’s product.
However, this does not mean that SimplePDF isn’t worth a shot. We think it is, judging by the rich support for input formats, as well as the loading speed (which can be noticed mostly for large documents) and the pleasant environment it creates for the reading process.
We might have taken things a little bit too far by comparing with Adobe Reader, but what better comparison standard for a PDF viewer? The differences that were revealed make quite the list, but let’s not forget that with SimplePDF you can read more formats than with Adobe reader.
