Skitch

Skitch is a graphic software tool designed to help users take screenshots and edit them by adding arrows and text annotations. It can be deployed on OS X, iOS, Windows (including a special edition for Windows 8 users), and Android.

Straightforward layout

It boasts a clean and intuitive layout that gives you the possibility to capture the screen in a full mode or manually select the region using your mouse.
Plus, the program lets you upload images from your computer into the workspace for editing them, provided that the file format is PNG, BMP, JPG, JPEG, TIF, TIFF, or GIF, as well as create a new image from scratch using the built-in drawing tools.

Editing and sharing features

Skitch allows you to insert arrows, embed text messages, add ellipses, rectangles, rounded rectangles, and lines, as well as highlight important information and pick the preferred color.
Other important features worth mentioning are represented by the possibility to use a pen for drawing free-hand designs, apply preset stamps, pixelate the selected area, crop the pictures, and resize them. On the downside, you cannot capture an active window and customize the text messages in terms of font and font style.

During our testing we have noticed that Skitch carries out a task quickly. It offers very good image quality. It eats up from a low up to a moderate amount of CPU and memory resources.
