SMART-BURN Media Check

SMART-BURN Media Check is a lightweight tool which aims to provide additional information about the media type loaded in your CD or DVD writer. It is able to detect and display the manufacturer, drive type or material of the disc with just one click.
The program is designed to be used with the LiteOn CD-RW, DVD-RW or Combo drives in order to adjust the writing speed according to the media type. Since these disc writers use the Buffer Underrun Protection feature permanently, the application checks the media quality and sets the burning speed.
This tool can help prevent the errors that are caused by using inappropriate writing speeds when creating a CD or DVD. After detecting the media type, the drive can estimate the maximum speed and configure the writing method that optimizes the burn quality.
The interface is simple and provides the information within a few seconds from inserting the disc in the DVD drive. In our tests it correctly identified CD-RW and DVD+R discs without any problems.
Although this tool can be used for identifying the media type, the burning strategy of the DVD writer can only be adjusted by using a LiteOn device. You can still take advantage of the information if your disc burning application does not include a media information utility.
The LiteOn hardware owners can also use the application to disable or enable some of the drive features such as SmartBurn, Hyper Tuning or the BDR/RE Smart Verify function.
