SMFixer

Safe mode is intended to help you diagnose and fix operating system critical problems and it is widely used for removing malicious software. If you are continuously pressing the F8 key striving to boot your system in safe mode and nothing happens, most likely the computer is infected with a virus or a rootkit. Some forms of malware affect the MBR section, in order to prevent you from entering safe mode and remove them from the system.
SMFixer is a lightweight application especially designed to solve this issue and help you gain control over your computer again. Its main purpose is to repair any Safe Mode issues, allowing you to fix all the problems within the operating system and boot the PC normally.
Before using the application, you are advised to backup all your personal files and folders, in order to avoid unwanted data loss. Additionally, it is advisable to disable any other security software or firewall that might block SMFixer and prevent it from modifying the system registry.
The application only consists of a simple window that comprises the program's description and the 'Fix' button. There is no other option available and pressing the button restarts your system immediately.
During restart, SMFixer tries to detect and remove bootkits and delete any remaining malicious registry keys, in order to allow normal computer restart. If its actions are successful, pressing the F8 key again will enable you to run the last known working configuration or load the Safe Mode screen, in order to remove any suspicious files and folders manually.
Although it may not always be effective, SMFixer is a dedicated removal tool that is worth trying if you want to control your system again, without having to re-install the operating system and all the applications.
