Smooth Streaming Description

The Smooth Streaming was designed to be an extension for Internet Information Services (IIS) 7.0 that enables adaptive streaming of media from Windows Server 2008 to Silverlight clients via HTTP.
Smooth Streaming dynamically detects current network and local PC conditions, and seamlessly switches the video quality of a media file that a Silverlight player receives. Consumers with high-bandwidth connections and newer hardware can experience HD quality streaming, and others with lower bandwidth speeds or older hardware receive an appropriate stream for their conditions, allowing all users to enjoy the best possible viewing experience at any moment during playback.System requirementsYou must use IIS 7.0 running on Windows Server 2008 or Windows VistaÂ® with Service Pack 1 (SP1).
The IIS Management Console for Internet Information Services 7.0 must be installed to manage the Smooth Streaming module using the IIS 7.0 user interface.
You must install IIS Smooth Streaming - Beta as an administrator.
