Snippet Description
Keeping all your notes and ideas together might seem like an easy task, but if they’re in an abundance of different files spread all over your hard disk drive, finding them turns into a pain. Luckily, developers came out with applications like Snippet, which enable you to store multiple entries and keep an organized database of all text entries.
Advantages of portability
Since it’s meant to be personal, the application can be carried around on a thumb drive along with all notes you write down, because it doesn’t require an installation in order to function. What’s more, portability also means that system registries remain intact, without having to worry that the target PC’s stability is affected.
In terms of visuals, the application keeps things simple, with a classic window frame housing all features. A large text pad is where all the writing is done, while a side panel is used to store all entries. It enables you to create new items at the press of a button, with options to organize them in a tree structure.
Search, and export options
Customization doesn’t play an important role in the set of features, and you’re only allowed to change the font type, style, and size, without options to set a different color. You can also change the font used to show all of your items, but customization is applied to the entire document, not just selective items.
If the list of notes gets too abundant, there’s the possibility to use the built-in search function in order to quickly find text strings of interest, but without an option to replace. Saving is only done locally, because the application doesn’t support any kind of external files, not even TXT. If you do want to export notes, it’s only possible through the print function.
In conclusion
Bottom line is that you don’t need to rely on advanced editors, or complicated functions to take notes. Snippet helps with research, or any other kind of lists you need to make. You’re free to create an organized database of all entries, and even though customization options are a little shallow, it’s worth a try overall.
