Solway's Deskew

Solway's Deskew is a handy and simple-to-use software utility that enables you to deskew images which contain lines of text by rotating them to make the lines horizontal.
It works for scanned pages of text. The app doesn't contain complicated options or configuration preferences, so it can be handled by anyone with ease.

Simple setup and interface

The installation procedure is a fast and easy task that shouldn't give you any trouble. As for the interface, the application opts for a standard window with a plain yet intuitive structure, where all options provided by Solway's Deskew are made visible.

Load images from common file types

Photos can be individually imported from file using the file browser, since drag-and-drop is not featured. The supported file types are .bmp, .gif, .jpg, .jpeg, .jpe, .jp2 and .png. Batch processing is not possible, which means that you can deskew only one picture at a time.

Customize output preferences

All you have to do is indicate the output directory, maximum skew angle, and threshold value. This value can be set manually or automatically. If there is no destination folder specified, the program creates a directory called "out" and places all new files there. There are no other notable options available here.

Evaluation and conclusion

The software application worked smoothly in our tests, without hanging, crashing or prompting error messages. It rotated images swiftly while remaining light on system resources consumption, since it needed low CPU and RAM to work properly.
Although it doesn't integrate richer options or additional customization options for experienced users, Solway's Deskew delivers a simple and effective solution to deskewing pictures, geared toward all user levels.
