This led to the creation of specialized applications like Sort It Out, capable of using different algorithms to sort multiple text lines, with easy configuration, and fast processing.

Can be used on the go

One of the main advantages is you don’t have to go through the effort of installing it, and download is enough to check out its set of features. If you decide to carry it with you on a thumb drive, it can be used on other PCs without worrying that the system gets affected, because registries don’t need to be modified for sorting to work.
Unfortunately, the application isn’t able to read text from any kind of file, not even TXT, so you need to keep the editor at hand. On the other hand, it’s optimized to sort the list right from the clipboard, and after viewing it, you can copy it at the press of a button. There’s also an option to have text automatically copied back to the clipboard.

Good, but poor set of sort options

You get to choose how sorting is done, but only a few options are at your disposal. Case sensitivity is one of them, and another to sort in an ascending order, or descending. Additionally, blank lines can be automatically removed in the process.
The application relies on one of several algorithms for performing the sort operation. These are selected from a drop down menu, with options for shell, bubble, exchange, insertion, and moose. However, the result is almost always the same, since they don’t use custom filters, with the difference being in how files are read and distributed internally.

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Sort It Out comes with good intentions, and can quickly sort out a simple list of items sorted on a single column. Sadly, you can’t load files directly, and using different methods hardly makes a difference, if any. There aren’t any custom filters to set, but simple enumeration of items are instantly handled accordingly.
