SoundPad Description
With nearly all devices being equipped with a microphone, regardless of recording quality, you might want to process the sound a little before using it in other projects. This is done with specialized applications that are capable of displaying a wavelength so you can analyze sound and know where and what to adjust. SoundPad does just that, with a set of tools easy to use and understand.
Simple, yet intuitive interface
In terms of visuals, the application sports a simple, yet intuitive interface, somewhat similar to what older versions of Windows used to provide. Playback controls are found in an upper toolbar, giving you the possibility to start, stop, adjust volume or record sound.
Easily set up input and output devices
If you want to capture sound using a connected microphone, this is easily triggered at the press of a button, with the application automatically detecting the proper device to use. However, you are free to browse through the options menu and set input, as well as output devices along with a few corresponding options.
Depending on your intentions and connected devices, further options can be used to set capture quality settings like converting the recorded sound to mono, stereo, as well as the sample size to 8 or 16 bits. An overall sample quality rate can also be chosen from a drop-down menu, with values up to 44.1 kHz.
Import audio files and apply effects
The application is not only used for recording, but also comes packed with several editing options. You can insert external files found under the WAV, VOC, AIF, AU and RAW formats, either by dragging them over the main window or through the dedicated file explorer.
As mentioned above, you get to work with a handful of editing options. These can be applied both on a segment of the song or to the whole recording. From common effects like amplification, fade, echo and pitch, the application lets you apply silence, low pass filter, attempt to remove background noise, reverse and more.
In conclusion
All things considered, we can safely state that SoundPad is a practical application that can be used by both beginners and experienced users to record and process sound before using it in more complex projects. Take it for a spin and it surely keeps you a few songs or recordings in and experimenting with all the effects put at your disposal.
