Speed-O-Meter

Speed-O-Meter is a very simple Windows tool developed to show download and upload rates in real time.
Once installed and launched, Speed-O-Meter places an icon in the Windows System Tray that provides access to its features and settings.
Basically, it all comes down to a floating graph that can be placed anywhere on the screen in order to monitor a network connection.
Sadly, if multiple adapters are installed on your system, Speed-O-Meter doesn’t allow you to choose the one you wish to monitor, so it simply selects the one connected to the Internet.
The graph design is very simple and only shows download and upload rates, with a “maximum” option to show the highest recorded value.
The configuration screen is incredibly limited, allowing you to choose download and upload colors, transparency level and make the app run at Windows startup.
Speed-O-Meter works on any Windows version on the market and doesn’t require administrator privileges. Furthermore, since it only packs just a small number of features, only basic computer knowledge is required, so it can be safely used by both rookies and those with more experience.
All things considered, there is no doubt that Speed-O-Meter is an interesting project, but it simply lacks too many essential features to become a top product in this particular software category.
Simplicity is greatly appreciated most of the time, but in this case it all comes down to a few tools and a basic graph showing real-time traffic statistics.
