Speedo Autorun Maker Description
Back in the day some media CDs automatically launched a specific menu or a program right after it got inserted in the tray. Making this happen is not rocket science, and it all comes down to an INI file. To easily create one, Speedo Autorun Maker comes with a set of simple tools so you can easily generate Autorun.INI files for removable drives and CDs.
Easily generate an autorun file for your discs
The application only takes a little while to install on your computer, giving you a chance to quickly check out the set of features. The visual design is slim, with custom-made elements for all panels and functions you get to work with.
You don’t necessarily need a CD or DVD to be already inserted. This is because the Autorun.INI file created in the end needs to be manually written to the disc later on along with all corresponding files.
Good, but far from being a pro
All your effort narrows down to specifying a few file paths. On the one hand, there’s the mandatory field to provide the path to the target executable file to be launched. On the other hand, a couple of additional fields are used to provide a CD drive icon, as well as a drive label. Note that the icon field requires a full path and file name, and it’s not fitted with a browse dialog in this regard.
Hitting the “generate†button brings up one last browse dialog so you can choose the location to save the configuration file. Unfortunately, the application has a pretty straightforward approach on the situation, in the sense you only get to create a launcher for a single item, with no possibility to have a menu brought up, unless already configured, case in which the Autorun file can point to it.
In conclusion
Bottom line is that Speedo Autorun Maker is a straightforward tool you can use to create properly written Autorun.INI files to have a program automatically launched as soon as you insert a CD or DVD. It would have been useful to see more options towards creating a menu, but it gets the job properly done with what it puts at your disposal.
