StageSoft SnapShot Description
StageSoft SnapShot is a free software application that gives you the possibility to capture screenshots while playing Flight Simulator 2004 and X by just printing the PrintScreen key.
This way, you don't have to pause and minimize the game to the taskbar in order to open your image editor to paste and save a recorded image. It comes packed with approachable options that can be tackled with ease by anyone, and it supports multiple graphic file types.
Setup, prerequisites, and interface
The installation operation is a speedy task that shouldn't give you any trouble, thanks to the fact that there are only familiar options involved. However, you must have .NET Framework, since it was developed with the aid of this platform.
As far as the interface is concerned, StageSoft SnapShot adopts a normal window with a simple design and layout, where all you have to do is configure a couple of settings.
Set the autosaving folder and screenshot format
After indicating the preferred saving folder on the disk for the new screenshots, you can choose the file type between JPG, BMP, GIF and PNG, as well as locate the executable file of Flight Simulator 2004 and X with the help of the file browser.
Once you've started the monitor, you can launch the video game and press the PrintScreen button on your keyboard any time you want to grab snapshots. These are automatically saved and renamed in the specified folder, which you can later open to view results. Your configuration is remembered on exit.
Evaluation and conclusion
It worked smoothly throughout our evaluation, without triggering the OS or Flight Simulator to hang, crash or show error messages. CPU and RAM usage was minimal, as it didn't hamper the computer's performance. Thanks to its intuitive GUI and settings, StageSoft SnapShot can be easily used.
