Start Button Renamer

Start Button Renamer is a compact application designed for the Windows XP users that want to customize their Start button. It is one of most distinctive features for Windows operating systems and allows you to access most of its functions.
This small program provides you with the possibility to change the text displayed on the Start button. It allows you to enter any text and you can use letters, numbers and symbols. However, the button size remains unchanged and can only display the first four characters.
You can manage to fit five characters in there, if you use slimmer letters such as "i" or "t". Using numbers limits the text to four characters since they occupy more space. Although the name is changed, the button functions are not altered in any way. You can still access your programs and documents just like before.
The program's interface is straightforward and you should not have any problems in making the changes in just a few seconds. Since the resources and the time required for this operation are insignificant, the only issue is the inspiration.
Unfortunately, the name change is not permanent as the button reverts to the original name if you use the Taskbar and Start Menu Properties window. A computer restart also restores the name of the button so you need to keep the application close by in order to change it back.
If you want to pull a prank on your friends by changing the name of the Start button you can try this application. Unfortunately it is not a very effective tool since the name of the Start button changes back easily.
