sun calculator Description

It is important to know when the Sun will rise or set in various locations around the world, as well as find the Moon’s position, but this information is often not available for specific places.
sun calculator is a lightweight and portable application that enables you to perform these calculations very easily, by simply clicking on a map. Additionally, it can find the Sun’s angle and direction, and it allows you to import SRTM satellite data.

Get information about the position of the Sun and the Moon with a couple of mouse clicks

Once you have launched sun calculator, you are presented with a map of the globe that can be panned freely, and you can also zoom in or out at your leisure. Additionally, it is possible to increase or decrease the map’s contrast and brightness.
The Moon’s position is displayed on the map when you select “moon” mode, and you can right-click any point on the map to view information about the Sun. The application calculates its angle and direction, as well as the sunrise and sunset time.

Import SRTM satellite data

While the application is perfectly usable as it is, you also have the option of loading SRTM height data yourself.
The map is updated automatically based on the current time, so there is no need to refresh it manually whenever you wish to perform calculations.

Minimalistic user interface that looks somewhat outdated

Unfortunately, it is clear that not a lot of effort went into designing the application’s UI, as it appears to be unpolished at best, and very out of date.
Nevertheless, it is fairly easy to figure out what each of the buttons included in the toolbar are designed for, and there are no complex menus to navigate through.
Overall, sun calculator is a straightforward, portable utility that enables you to find information about the Sun, as well as the Moon’s position. It features an outdated user interface, but it is very simple to use.
