Symbol-Maker Description

Writing styles on a computer can vary a lot, mostly depending on the purpose of content, as well as the public itself. Font libraries help customize text, with some even adding drawings, or different kinds of symbols. In this regard, Symbol-Maker wants to enhance text by transforming input into a stylish set of characters, without messing up letter arrangement.

Advantages of a portable app

On the bright side of things, the application doesn’t require installation in order to function, giving you the freedom to use on other computers, directly from a thumb drive, on which it can also be stored. More importantly, health status of the target PC remains intact since registry entries are not modified to ensure functionality.
One launched, the application brings up a few initial prompt messages to inform you about the overall process. On the downside, you need to run the application after each operation to perform a new one, because it automatically closes when done. A simple workaround is to assign a hotkey command to the application’s shortcut to quickly launch it later on.

Fails to convert text as intended

The operation is done instantly after pasting in the target text, or writing it down in the input field, and hitting the trigger button. What the application actually does to your text is convert it using the Wingdings format, which comprises of a variety of symbols. Once conversion is done, text is automatically sent to clipboard, and the program closes.
Unfortunately, there’s a lot left to be desired, because of the lack of any updates, and possible compatibility issues with modern Windows iterations. As a result, text is not properly converted, but rather sending the entire script to the clipboard, without changing the font, regardless of the editor you paste the new string in.

On an ending note

Taking everything into consideration, we can say that Symbol-Maker leaves a lot more room for improvements, especially in its core functionality. The overall process is easy enough, while portability is a cool advantage. However, without any conversion done, practicality easily plunges in freefall.
