Tableau Description
Fast data in one click:
Speed up your slow databases, huge text files and big spreadsheets with a local data store optimized for analytics. Tableau’s Data Engine extracts your data in 1 click and makes slow data blazing fast.
In-memory without the limitations
The limitation of traditional in-memory is that all your data needs to fit into RAM. Not with Tableau. You can load data much larger than your machine’s RAM into the Data Engine and do ad-hoc analysis.
Data Blending in One Click:
Data Blending allows you to combine data from multiple sources together into a single view with simple drag-and-drop.
You're working with data in an Oracle database and want to access territory data, which is in an Excel spreadsheet. You connect to the Excel sheet. Tableau automatically detects that the data sources have the State field in common. Now you can simply drag Territory onto the color shelf and get blended results.
Mark History:
Mark History allows you to show the location of a mark from a prior page. Mark history can be enabled for selected, highlighted, individual, or all marks on a page.
Faster Rendering:
You’ll notice much faster rendering of marks in Tableau.
Tested this across many scenarios which each had a large number of marks. The total time to about 12% of the original time, about an 8x improvement.
