Tekline Universal Media Player Description
Multimedia files come under a variety of formats, depending on type of content, and encoders used to bundle code in a viewable form. There are default multimedia players you can use, but third-party options might be a little better equipped to suit your needs. For instance, Tekline Universal Media Player provides seamless playback for videos, audio files, and pictures.
Visual design, and file support
You can run the application after it’s installed, with a custom made design for each of the three supported file types. The set of controls remains the same, with play/pause, stop, volume slider, mute button, as well as a progress slider to skip through content, while playback current, and total time values are also displayed.
Drag and drop is not supported, so you need to rely on the browse dialog to load your files. Although there’s no mention to supported formats, the application can read a decent variety, such as, but not limited to AVI, WMV, MPG, FLV, MOV for videos, audio like MP3, OGG, WAV, WMA, AAC, AC3, as well as JPG, BMP, and GIF pictures.
Good, but far from being a pro
A slightly disturbing aspect is the size of the window, which is always fixed, and can’t be changed. This can be rather frustrating, because the preview area is equipped with aesthetic elements on the side, taking up almost half of the preview area. On the other hand, you can enter fullscreen mode for more space.
There are no effects to enhance video, audio playback, or pictures. Moreover, large pictures might take a considerable amount of time to load, or even result in a crash. Whereas for audio files, you can only play one song at a time, because of the lack of a playlist manager.
In conclusion
All things considered, we can safely state that Tekline Universal Media Player leaves more to be desired, even though file support is decent, covering almost all forms of entertainment. Unfortunately, playback options are poor, with no effects, or a playlist manager to have an entire album played.
