Text File Generator Description
Performing research while online might mean you want to save bits of text for later processing, and the clipboard can only hold one entry at a time. In case you want to simply save gathered text inside plain documents, then Text File Generator helps you easily save a custom amount of content as TXT.
Can be used on the go
For starters, the application is good to go from the moment it reaches your PC, because it doesn’t take you through a setup process to make all its features available. As such, you can store it on a thumb drive in case you always want to have it at hand. More than that, the target PC isn’t put at risk, because system registry entries remain intact during runtime.
The application stores all of its features in a plain interface, with a large text pad where you get to paste or write all text you want to save, as well as a field in which the location of the destination needs to be specified. Unfortunately, the destination needs to be manually written down, including the filename and extension, because there’s no save dialog.
Leaves much to be desired
The whole operation can prove quite time-consuming on the long run. This is because the window first needs to be brought up, text pasted inside the target field, and the path specified for every new document you need to create. There are no hotkey commands the application comes with to help at least place text from clipboard automatically.
In terms of file support, you only get TXT files, and this is specified every time you try to write a different extension. To easily launch the application from any Explorer location, there is the possibility to assign a hotkey command to its shortcut.
To sum it up
All things considered, we can state that Text File Generator comes with good intentions, but is barely prepared to also provide the flexibility you need. You only get to work with plain text files, and it can take quite a while to create multiple documents because of the lack of a save dialog.
