When it comes to tracking the activities of your employees, there is a fine line between useful and invasive. While opting for a quality time-tracking app is an alternative to consider, quality in this context depends on the line of work and your company's needs.
TimeClock is a lightweight piece of software that mainly addresses small businesses that are looking for a simple method to record employees' worked hours.
Includes a minimalistic, yet intuitive interface
After a fast and forthright setup, you come face to face with simple, yet intuitive and easy to navigate interface. The main window consists of two main sections, namely the list of employees who are clocked in and the area that displays the current time and date along with the Check In and Check Out options.
You should know that the utility does not rely on a database to manage entries and employees, so it may not be the best choice of a medium or large size company. While it could be a great tool for certain small businesses, it would have been nice if the app allowed to save or export activity logs, so that you can check them out on other devices as well.
Seamlessly add check in and out
The program is relatively easy to use, especially since operating it entails selecting the user or employee and hitting the In or Out buttons. You can add a new user effortlessly by accessing the Employees menu and then typing in the desired name. On a side note, the application does not accept names that feature less than five letters and the recommended format is Firstname Lastname.
As a side note, a small inconvenience of the utility is that you need to select the name of the employee from the dropdown menu in order to perform the Check In action. Considering that you can effortlessly add and remove employees, this should not take too much of your time.
A simple tool for tracking worked hours for small businesses
Even though it can be argued that small companies might as well use pen and paper to track staff activity, an app such as TimeClock comes with the advantage that the records with the PDO and actual worked hours are stored on your PC and readily accessible.
