TinyPic Description
As the name implies, TinyPic is a software application which enables you to modify the size of your pictures. It supports plenty of file types, such as PNG, GIF, CUT, EPS, JPG and BMP.
The interface of the tool is plain and uncomplicated. Adding an image to the file list is possible through the file browser or 'drag and drop' function. Working with multiple items at the same time is permitted.
The file queue shows the total size, reduction percentage, time and status for each entry. So, all you have to do is select a predefined value displayed in the main application window between 640x480, 800x600, 1024x768 and 1600x1200 pixels, establish the output directory, and proceed with the resizing operation.
As the words in the brackets next to each preset suggest, you can resize pictures for small areas, emails, full screen mode or archives. Plus, there is a feature available which makes images extra small (while sacrificing quality). Last but not least, you can preview file content.
The image processing program requires a very low amount of CPU and system memory, has a good response time, quickly finishes a task and delivers items with a fair picture quality (depending on the preset you have selected). We have not come across any problems in our evaluation because TinyPic did not freeze, crash or pop up error dialogs. There is also a brief help file available.
On the downside, you cannot resize images to a user-defined value, or make TinyPic open the output directory when all tasks are done. Otherwise, TinyPic represents the simplest method for resizing graphics files. Thanks to its intuitive layout and overall simplicity, inexperienced users should quickly get accustomed to the app's features.
