Translucator is a Photoshop-compatible plug-in designed to provide users with the possibility to easily extract translucent objects from their photos, so that users can easily place the selected object on a new background without issues.
The tool is capable of unmixing the colors of the object from those of the background, thus allowing for the extracted objects to be used in collages, scrap-books, and even greeting cards.
Regardless of the type of translucent objects that users want to remove from their images, this tool has got them covered. It can recognize glass, smoke, fog, fur, etc.
The application comes with a variety of integrated tools, including zoom and pan, as well as a brush to mark the translucent area. Moreover, it includes a Flood Fill tool, as well as a series of customization options to improve the image or the selection.
The utility allows users to modify the strength of background erasing or the saturation and transparency of the selected object, and also provides them with the possibility to fill holes or remove debris within received mask.
The tool makes changes to the selected area alone. Although the unselected area is displayed as a semi-transparent color in main plug-in window, it remains unchanged. The plug-in does not modify the transparency of the selected area.
One thing that users should keep in mind when it comes to this plug-in, however, is the fact that it works only with images that have a RGB layer with 8 or 16 bits/channel (this means, for example, that the photo has 4 channels: R, G, B, and Alpha).
If the image does not have the RGB layer, users need to create it, otherwise they can not take advantage of the tools functionality.
