Tv Soft is an application created to offer users a simple means of watching television stations from across the world over the Internet. It’s a lightweight streaming tool that installs very fast and doesn’t require any configuration before running.
The available channels are grouped into categories such as English, German, Italian, Spanish and French and are accessible from drop-down menus.
As far as controls go, Tv Soft enables you to use the basic controls that are available in any standard video player. There are no intricacies to using it.
Tv Soft allows you to configure connection speed properties, use various plugins and custom protocols for MMS URLs, which come in pretty handy but what it lacks is maybe the most important thing of all: channels.
In this case, having them categorized by country doesn’t necessarily mean you have a large number selections. There are about 50 channels to choose from and some don’t get passed the buffering stage. Not that that is an indicator of low performance from the application but it does bring into focus the lack of a playlist editor or any other means of separating and customizing the channels.
Another thing that you come across and might consider to be an inconvenience is that resizing the main window of Tv Soft will not enlarge or shrink the playback area. There is though one way around this issue.
Tv Soft is able to display detailed information about the channel that is currently opened and from that info you can copy the address of the station and open it using Windows Media Player. Now the resize works and you have access to more playback settings but that kind of defies the purpose of Tv Soft as a streaming application.
It is unfair to say that Tv Soft isn’t a good TV broadcasting tool, but it is safe to say that it does need improvements in both GUI and features.
