Ultimate Subtitle Converter Description
If you're trying to put together a movie collection, then you're probably interested in loading the corresponding subtitles as well, especially if the movies are in a foreign language. However, some DVD players work only with a special type of subtitles, depending on the accepted file formats.
Produce MicroDVD subtitles from other file types
Ultimate Subtitle Converter is a portable application that enables you to create MicroDVD subtitles (.sub format) from SubRip (.srt), Subviewer (1 & 2, .sub), Sami (Microsoft, .smi or .sami) and plain text files (.txt).
The entire program's wrapped in a single executable file that can be copied to a USB flash drive and effortlessly launched on any PC without setup. It doesn't change system registry settings.
Unpolished interface with a simple layout
By the look of the interface, it's obvious that Ultimate Subtitle Converter hasn't received updates for a long time. It has a rudimentary, unpolished aspect. However, the layout is clean and intuitive.
Set the current frame rate and add frames
You can open a subtitle using the built-in file browser and specify the current frame rate (23.976, 25 or 29.976 FPS). The subtitles can be previewed in the main window, where you can check out the in and out times, along with each line (up to three lines on the screen).
It's possible to change the frame rate before saving the new files, as well as to fix desynchronized subtitles by adding any number of frames to all lines at the same time. You can also remove captioning.
Unimpressive range of settings
Once the settings are made, you can save the converted file to MicroDVD format by just indicating the destination folder and file name.
However, this is where Ultimate Subtitle Converter's functionality ends. It doesn't give you the possibility to edit content or manually adjust the input and output times of each line.
On top of that, it only allows you to add frames (delaying subtitles), without the possibility to remove them (hastening). Nevertheless, you can test this subtitle conversion tool for yourself.
