underBrowser Description
So far, the main gateway to the information superhighway is a web browser. You most likely used the Windows default browser to at least download a different one, but it doesn’t have to be a complicated browser to meet your demands. If stealth is of interest, than underBrowser is what you’re looking for.
Advantages of a portable app
On the one hand, the application skips you the time, and effort needed to go through a setup process, giving you the possibility to use it almost anywhere you go, directly from a thumb drive. The only thing you need to look for is whether or not the target computer is fitted with .NET Framework, because it’s a mandatory requirement.
Launching the application brings up the main window, which might leave you a little surprised, since there’s just a large empty area, and a simple toolbar fitted only with the URL field. Writing down an address and hitting Go takes you there pretty fast, which is one of the main advantages.
Hides at the press of a button
However, the application comes with something else in mind, namely to enhance stealth as much as possible, and this is the reason behind all the missing features. This means you can’t navigate on more pages at a time, save favorite pages, access history, or other features you’re familiar from web experience accumulated so far.
There’s no button to hide the application either, but this is done by pressing the F1 button on your keyboard. The application’s main window disappears, and the only way to make it visible again is also through hotkeys. It first needs to be identified through the task switcher (Alt + Tab) after which hitting F2 brings the main window back up.
On an ending note
Taking everything into consideration, we can safely state that underBrowser might not appeal to everyone, especially since it isn’t fitted with any of the common features everyone’s used to. On the other hand, the purpose behind this is to enhance stealth, and leave no traces, perfectly serving for a quick peek online without anyone ever knowing.
