Uninstall Messenger

Uninstall Messenger is a very lightweight utility designed as a removal tool for Windows MSN Messenger. It works exclusively on Windows XP computers and carries out the job rather quickly, however, not flawlessly.
There is a major downside worth bringing into focus, related to the application’s target - Windows MSN Messenger. This is a deprecated instant messaging client, developed by Microsoft, which evolved into Windows Live Messenger, then merged into Skype. However, it is still a part of Windows Essentials, for users who fancy it.
The fact that this application addresses such an old version of Microsoft’s IM client, as well as the fact that its area of expertise is narrowed down to Windows XP diminishes its value a whole lot.
Nevertheless, statistics show that there still might be an audience that meets the application’s criteria, which means the software is not completely out of business.
Uninstall Messenger comes as an alternative to the traditional uninstall method via the Control Panel. We were able to tell that it’s faster, but not as effective, leaving plenty of traces behind.
On the upside, Uninstall Messenger is very easy-to-use and accessible – usage is incredibly simple, as a double click on the app’s exe file suffices to accomplish the job. Also, completing the task takes very little time, under a minute during our tests.
We also noticed that the uninstallation of the MSN Messenger was not accomplished properly, because the shortcuts from the start menu were not removed. What’s more, launching the Messenger using that shortcut will result in reinstalling the messenger.
On an ending note, Uninstall Messenger scored high points back in the time, but is now an outdated utility. It works with a deprecated version of Microsoft’s IM client and only on Windows XP computers, not to mention the fact that the removal is not exactly thorough.
