Unit Converter Description
Different measuring units got developed over the years, with range scales for more accuracy and comfort. However, parts of the world can use other system types, case in which conversion might be required. If so, then Unit Converter comes with just the right means to perform conversion of common units, but also some specialized types.
Can be used on the go
You don’t even have to go through a setup process to make the application work, meaning it’s good to go from the moment download is done. This allows you to store it on a thumb drive to have its set of features at your disposal, regardless of the computer you’re working on.
The visual design feels a little rough around the edges, but this doesn’t make it difficult to understand, or use for that matter. Several drop-down menus are used for unit selection, while dedicated value fields need to be filled in with values you wish to convert. Moreover, selecting a dimension also provides cool visual support of the range, and notations you encounter during conversion.
Various common, and special dimensions
A closer look reveals that the application mostly comes in handy for scientific domains of activity, since it’s fitted with specialized measurement types, rather than a pool of common ones. Several dimensions in this regard refer to volumetric gas flow, mass flow, high and low pressure units, dynamic and kinematic viscosity.
Conversion is only done one way, even though the results field is editable. Sadly, there’s no button to quickly switch source with destination. In order to save results, you need to manually copy values from the dedicated field, because there’s no built-in option to save any kind of file.
On an ending note
To conclude, Unit Converter manages to get the job properly done, but mostly comes in handy for advanced operations. The range of dimensions is impressive nonetheless, but not too many common types are found, which can easily be discouraging.
