Universal Converter is an easy-to-use tool that facilitates a simple interface for performing conversions between different measurement units, including meters, feet, grams, ounces, kilograms, pounds, liters, and gallons. It supports both the metric and US system.

Setup, prerequisites, and interface

Installing this app shouldn't take a long time, since there are no unfamiliar options or third-party offers bundled with the setup kit. On the other hand, you must have .NET Framework installed, as it was developed with the aid of this platform.
When it comes to the interface, Universal Converter adopts a standard window and doesn't add special graphical elements. However, it's easy to navigate, thanks to the fact that it reveals all options put at your disposal.

Easily convert measurement units

There's an embedded calculator you can use to enter the numerical values and to perform additions, subtractions, divisions, and multiplications. Two main conversion modes are displayed in two columns, for turning metric values into US, and the other way around.
All you have to do is enter the number and click on a button to instantly perform the specified conversion, such as meters to feet, kilometers to miles, centimeters to inches, kilograms to pounds, Celsius to Fahrenheit, liters to gallons, meters to yards, grams to ounces, and kilometers per hour to miler per hour.
The result is immediately shown in the calculator, replacing the original value. An error message pops up if you enter unsupported characters (such as letters), but tasks can be carried out after acknowledging this dialog, since it doesn't cause the application to exit.

Evaluation and conclusion

The program doesn't come packed in an attractive interface, nor does it have a particularly rich set of features. However, it delivers a straightforward solution for converting measurement units, especially if you don't have an active Internet connection at hand. Results are quickly displayed and system resources usage is minimal.
Too bad that Universal Converter hasn't received updates for a long time and remained in beta development stage.
